Islamabad police using Drone Technology to Monitor Religious Processions

The Islamabad Police used a drone for aerial surveillance and monitoring of the recent Chehlum procession in G-6/2 Islamabad. The Footage from the drone high-definition cameras supports the police to ensure peace and spot anything abnormal well in time.  Islamabad already has more than 1900 hundred close circuit high definition cameras installed at various locations.

These drones boost police capacity and besides monitoring of rallies can also be used for tasks like accident and crime scene documentation, or monitoring of public places and industrial sites reducing risk posed to human life.

There are Privacy concerns around the use of drones, as they can be used for pervasive surveillance because of the low operational cost and risk, but they offer a convenient add-on to the police capacity for day to day operations and can help avert untoward incidents besides being a deterrent of sorts.

Recently policing in Islamabad has seen increased use of technology, to good effect, to improve response time and maintenance of order. It is good to see the capital Policing raising the level of its game.
